The President cited “The KPMG report comprises opinions, advice, deliberations, and recommendations that are integral to the President’s deliberative process and, therefore, qualifies as exempt information under section 5 (1) (a) and (b) (i) of the Right to Information (RTI) Act”.
The President subsequently on May 23, 2024 indicated through a statement from the Presidency that he had released the report for the sake of accountability and transparency.
He used the opportunity to counsel persons who seek information through the Right to Information to have an understanding of the provisions.
President Akufo-Addo has released the KPMG audit report on the controversial contract between the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and Strategic Mobilisation Limited (SML).
The contract with SML was intended to leverage advanced technological solutions to streamline tax collection processes, reduce leakages, and increase overall efficiency in the operations of GRA.
The release follows public calls for transparency and accountability regarding the contract’s details and execution.
